The Red Sea Coast is a seawater inlet for the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa and Asia. It stretches for over 2,000km and became a famous for it's world class diving after the expeditions of Hans Hass and Jacques Cousteau in the 1950's.
Today the most popular cities like Hurghada attract millions of tourists all seeking that famous Egyptian sun, which seems to shine 365 days a year and is especially popular with Europeans seeking some Winter Sun. Hurghada once a small fishing village has grown rapidly to become a hub for tourists worldwide, with holidaymakers and travellers coming from as far as China to see the many attractions and the history Egypt has to offer.
There is also the amazing gates resorts of El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh and Port Ghalib, although El Gouna is the most well known of these exclusive gated resorts, the other two are making their way onto the horizons of many a traveller looking for some peace and quiet away from the bustling towns and cities. For many though it is the hustle and bustle of Egypt with it's vibrant colours, cultures and friendly locals that draws people back, time and time again.
More recently The Red Sea Coast has become a hotspot for the kitesurfing/kiteboarding community, with shallow waters and constant winds it is really starting to make a name for itself, with El Gouna hosting the first round of the 2016 Kiteboarding World Championships which has really put it on the kitesurfing/kiteboarding map.

This is video we filmed ourselves 16th Dec 2016 on our annual boat trip, every year in December we hire a boat and go for a day on The Red Sea and do some snorkelling. You can see in the video just how close to the surface these corals are and you don't have to be a diver to experience the joys of The Red Sea, this is just one of the excursions you could be enjoying when renting an apartment from Rivermead Global Rentals.
